While on our nature walk at NCTC, Katie found a peculiar looking reddish rolled up caterpillar. Our nature guide casually said, "Ah yes. That's a woolly bear." My head almost fell off my neck. A woolly WHAT?!?!?! Woolliest bear. I came home and made my gstatus a picture of a woolly bear. Kate made it her gpicture but she feared it looked like "a weird pill or a piece of poo." So to solve all our problems I gave woolly bear googly eyes and a nice smile. Kate then went ahead and yammered this photo, exposing me to all of NEEF as a complete weirdo. I guess it's time everyone found out... And that is the legend of woolly bear!

Woolly Bear

i spotted a woolly bear a couple weeks ago in the smokies. i didn't know what it was but snapped a photo for future reference. you're blog is so incredibly educational and timely.
