Rasika

So yesterday was quite the food day. I finally went to Rasika. Aubrey and I tried to make reservations here for last restaurant week but they were booked by the time we called, almost three weeks out! Obligatory shout out: Mayank went here over the summer with his friends and talked about it. Non. Stop. It wasn't annoying at all...

The decor was really pretty, they had these green shimmery curtains I LOVED. And then a random chandelier over our booth blocking my view of Em's sweet face...We ordered the Palak Chaat (crispy spinach/ sweet yogurt/ tamarind/ date chutney) based on the recommendation of everyone we knew who had been there. Literally three different people told me to order this (pictured above). I was thinking, honestly, how great can spinach be? The answer is SO GREAT. UnBELIEVABLY great. Yummy. As appetizers we also ordered Ragda Patties (Spiced potato/ chick peas/ tamarind/ date/ mint chutney) and Goolar Ke Kebab (Black mission figs/ lentils/ spiced mascarpone). Yum Yum Yum. I also splurged and had a glass of Grenache. For my main entree I had the Chicken Makhani, or their butter chicken. Our waiter said it was the most popular dish on their menu. I ordered it at a level 8 spiciness, I think I probably should have gone for the 10. Incidentally, our waiter was a 10+. A married 10+. Womp womp. Back on topic, the chicken was unreal and, as Em put it, I could brush my teeth with the sauce. Also ordered a piece of Naan. Everything was perfect. So good. According to Waiter 10+ the chef at Rasika applied for Top Chef, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Next up, Zaytinya! Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go heat up the ramen I'll be living on to make up for the meals I had yesterday.

Kissairis: the lobster truck is at van ness today
Best gchat ever.

The Red Hook Lobster truck somehow found its way up to Van Ness. I gathered the NEEF troops and headed down to feast on food cart delights. This was my first time actually getting food cart food which is kind of weird because I follow at least 15 of them on Twitter. I thanked the driver PROFUSELY for coming up to Van Ness and he said they love going to new places. Unfortunately, there was no line when we got there and they left before 1pm. I hope they chalk it up to the rain. I tweeted them twice about how yummy and wonderful they are. In my scheme, they will tell their food cart friends how lovely and hospitable Van Ness yuppies are and soon I'll be living in a food cart utopia.

Pictured above is the Maine style lobster roll, but I actually got the shrimp roll since I don't care for lobster. Everything was delicious on all accounts. They also had "hot yummy apple cider" which I also ordered. And, best for last, please take note of the built in soda fountain on the side of the truck!!!!!!! Kate will be getting me a similarly tricked out vehicle for my bday, substitute lobster for crab. Hoo Eee!!

Thanks Thomson

Speaking of the Rangers, Sarah won box seats to a Rangers game in a charity raffle and she invited ME to be her guest! We went to the Rangers vs Blues game on Sunday night. To be completely honest the game itself was a little boring. Neither Halak nor Lunqvidst were in goal and I don't think Boogard punched anyone. Ended up 2-0 Blues. The BOX though was sweet, free beer is a revelation. Really cool experience and resulted in a great trip to NY, thanks a lot Sarah!!!

Five Minute Major

Hendricks had his first two point game of his career last night against the Rangers with a goal and an assist. He also had a fight and I definitely thought he had pulled off a Gordie Howe hat trick, but turns out he got a two minute minor for roughing and not the five minute major for fighting. I'm disappointed. He's disappointed. We're all disappointed. Boo refs! I basically wanted an excuse to post this photo because it puts a huge smile on my face. Again, really liking this guy!!

Additional interesting note: Erskine scored his first goal in 31 games followed less than a minute later by a goal from Boogaard for his first in 234 games. Odd.

"You've Won A Signed Capitals Jersey!"

So I'm having a normal day at work, minding my own business, when my phone rings. I'm thinking which peds asthma nerd needs me now? Turns out, it's Mix 107.3 calling to tell me I won a signed Capitals jersey! BEST. I just went to pick it up and have rubbed my cheek against Brooksy's signature no less than three times. It's a men's XL so I'm probably going to frame it, but not before I wear it once, on my couch, probably tonight for the Rangers game. Bask in the glory that is this jersey. Mmmm... :D!!!!!

Top 50 Hockey Fights of All Time

Best top 50 list ever.

The pic for this post is an ode to Matt Hendricks who I am REALLY liking this year. Here's a quote from him about his moustache for movember:
"I don't know," Hendricks said. "Not cute. Probably a little ugly. But that's all right; I guess it goes with my game."

Love.

Mr. Brooks

Brooksy's been nominated for Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year. You can read the nomination from Michael Farber here. I am BURSTING with pride for my baby Brooks, it is so cool he's getting this recognition from the sports world at large. So well deserved.

DROID

Mayank sent me this excellent graphic. It has two things I love on it, but I'm not sure what it says about me either.

Rookie of the Month

I've really fallen off the blogging wagon. As my first post after a little hiatus, let's talk about Michal Neuvirth getting NHL rookie of the month for October. VERY well deserved. Here's THE highlight of his month with a save against Carolina's Eric Staal, coming in his first career shut out game.

It's game night, going to the see the boys play the Leafs. They've been in a huge scoring slump so maybe Neuvy will pull off another shut out? Let's go Caps!!
